Frequently Asked Questions

Do you want to know more about what we do here at Mr. Snippy and our process? Please read our FAQs.

Mr. Snippy is a community-driven initiative dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership and reducing the number of stray animals. We offer desexing services, education programs, and resources to support pet owners in caring for their furry companions.
Desexing, also known as spaying (for females) or neutering (for males), is a surgical procedure performed by a veterinarian to remove the reproductive organs of an animal. This prevents them from reproducing and helps control the pet population.
Desexing your pet has numerous benefits, both for your pet and the community. It can help reduce the number of unwanted litters, prevent certain health issues such as reproductive cancers and infections, decrease the likelihood of roaming and aggressive behavior, and contribute to overall population control efforts. Additionally, desexing can improve your pet’s quality of life and longevity.
Desexing can lead to some changes in behaviour, often positive. It can reduce aggression, territorial marking, and roaming tendencies. However, it will not change your pet’s fundamental personality or playfulness.
Long-term effects of desexing include a reduced risk of certain cancers and infections (such as pyometra in females), and it can also prevent unwanted litters. Desexed pets often live longer, healthier lives. It’s important to monitor your pet’s weight and health post-surgery, as desexing can lead to a slower metabolism.
As with any surgical procedure, there are potential risks. However, desexing is a common and generally safe procedure. Your veterinarian will take all necessary precautions to minimise risks and ensure your pet’s safety.
